A God Who Speaks

A God Who Speaks

Hey Fam,
Ya girl is tired so Ima make this one quick, sweet, and simple lol.

Every day when I drop my daughter off at school we do our gratitude list where we say 5-10 things we are grateful for and then we pray together.

Yesterday during this time, Brielle very passionately stated, "Mom I don't want to hear God with my heart! Why can't he just speak to my ear? He spoke to Moses ear."

I validated her desire and shared that I used to want that too when I was younger. I told her that most people do not hear God with their ears, but its beautiful to be able to hear him with our heart....

She pouted. She wasn't satisfied with that response 😂

Well fast forward to this morning. While Brielle was eating her breakfast, I was reading my bible out loud (which I hardly ever do). I was in Romans and she randomly asked me to read the 10 commandments.

I gave a weird look like ooookkkaayyyyyy.... I silently thought "I'm reading about grace and you tryna have me read about rules" 😂

I turned to the 10 commandments, read them out loud, and continued through the verses right after. What stuck out in the verses following is that God spoke to them audibly and the people:

18 Stood at a distance, trembling with fear.19 And they said to Moses, “You speak to us, and we will listen. But don’t let God speak directly to us, or we will die!”

Brielle asked right away "Why is God's voice so scary?"
I kept on Reading

20 Moses answered them, “God has come in this way to test you, and so that your fear of him will keep you from sinning"

I explained that God is a big God and that his voice is too powerful for us to hear with our ears. He spoke to their ears because he wanted to show them how big and good he his. How worthy He is of our obedience. Him speaking in other ways is often a gift of kindness and protection.

She didn't pout. She seemed satisfied with that answer. 😂

........But then I recognized the miracle......

Holy spirit shown me something that I immediately shared with Brielle.

"Baby! God heard you yesterday in the car!
You wanted to know why you can't hear him with your ear and today mommy randomly was reading his word out loud.
You randomly asked for the 10 commandments.
I forgot he spoke to them with his voice!
The Bible is so big with so many words there's no way we just landed on that scripture!
Baby, not only did God hear you but he answered you! He just spoke to you right now!
Through his word!"

Her little brain just seemed to accept it and she continued to eat her breakfast. Unenthused. But not argumentative either lol. (I pray that a seed was planted)....

Seeing the Lord be so diligent and intentional with her was the most beautiful thing I've experienced in a while.
I am thankful and I just had to share with you all.

He's a sweet father.
He hears and He speaks.
